Muir Woods National Monument is 12 miles north of San Francisco.It protects 240 acres of old growth coast redwood forests.
This tree had lived 1,021 years when it was put on display here in 1930.
In 1945,delegates from all over the world met in San Francisco to establish the United Nations.
They came here to honor the memory of President Roosevelt who had died one month earlier.
