The Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge was completed in 1577 by the Ottoman court architect Mimar Sinan
Characteristic of the apogee of Ottoman monumental architecture and civil engineering,
the bridge has 11 masonry arches with spans of 11m to 15m.
The bridge bears witness to cultural exchanges between the Balkans, the Ottoman Empire and the Mediterranean world.
The Drina is a mountain river, drawing water from the mountains of the Balkans towards the Sava and the Danube Rivers.
